PRODUCT STORY
Biblical Borith
Dead Sea mud, frankincense, cedarwood, orange, and olive oil come together in a soap inspired by ancient Near Eastern cleansing traditions.

THE STORY
A soap built around an ancient word
The name comes from the biblical term "borith," a Hebrew word associated with cleansing substances made from plant ashes. No exact biblical soap recipe survives, so Biblical Borith is an interpretation rather than a reconstruction. More history-led formulas are gathered in Behind the Botanicals.
The formula brings together materials with strong ties to the ancient Mediterranean and Near East: olive oil, frankincense, cedarwood, and mineral-rich Dead Sea mud, with orange added for brightness.
A modern bar built from ingredients that feel at home in the ancient world.

THE FORMULA
Why the formula feels so old-world
Frankincense supplies the warm resinous center, cedarwood gives the bar a dry woody base, and Dead Sea mud gives the soap its distinctive mineral character. Another ancient-world scent story appears in Silk Road Sandalwood's aromatic trade inspiration.
The orange note keeps the darker materials from becoming too heavy, adding a clean citrus edge to the resin and wood.
