PRODUCT STORY
Bug Off
A citrus-and-eucalyptus outdoor spray developed by J.D. Bauer after months of personal testing during mosquito season in the California desert.

THE STORY
A product born from personal necessity
Bug Off began with a practical problem. Seasonal rains in the California desert bring mosquitoes, and J.D. Bauer wanted an alternative outdoor spray built around a compact botanical formula. For general bite-prevention guidance, see the CDC's mosquito prevention recommendations. It is part of the wider J.D. Bauer Botanicals story collection.
The finished blend combines lemon, eucalyptus, lemongrass, and rosemary with isopropyl alcohol and vegetable glycerin. The glycerin is included to keep the formula from feeling as drying as a plain alcohol-based spray.
This one started with itchy ankles, field testing, and a need for something J.D. actually wanted to use.
THE FORMULA
Why it sits outside the soap collection
Bug Off is a good example of how J.D. Bauer Botanicals moves beyond bar soap when a small-batch formula solves a specific everyday need. Another purpose-built formula appears in the compact Bauer Power deodorant story.
The scent stays firmly in the citrus-and-herb family, which keeps it consistent with the botanical character of the rest of the collection.
