Palo Santo, Cedar, and Scottish Oatmeal

$9.00

This blend of Palo Santo, Cedar and Scottish oatmeal is a sharp smelling, woody, and uplifting bar. Palo santo is wonderful as it leaves you feeling refreshed both on the inside and the outside.  Palo santo (Bursera graveolens) is a tree that's native to Peru, Ecuador, and other South American countries. It grows in dry tropical forests and produces very fragrant resin. In Spanish, palo santo means “holy wood.” For thousands of years, the wood, resin, and oil have been used for both spiritual and medicinal purposes.

The wood was traditionally used (usually burned) in shamanic practices for spiritual purification purposes.  It is used by many Native American cultures to clear negative energy and attract positive energy and good fortune. It was also used in ceremonies to purify the air and promote spiritual healing.  Palo Santo is also an insect repellent, so this use was also very practical!

Palo Santo’s has quite a few medicinal properties.  Palo Santo has pain relief properties.   Palo Santo can help with pain from arthritis, and aid with minor joint pain.  Palo Santo has anti-inflammatory properties that when mixed in the steam of the shower can help with coughs, colds, and allergies. It calms itchy skin and can also disinfect small wounds.

I add Cedar and organic Scottish oatmeal to the blend for both the scent and the mild exfoliation properties the oatmeal gives the soap.  Oatmeal is also great for itchy skin and is both calming and soothing.  Besides the myriad of medical properties, the smell is what draws people to Palo Santo.  This soap is fantastic and unique in its scent and properties. Try it out!
