Aurora - Lavender, Sandalwood, Bergamot, & Patchouli
Aurora is a Latin word that refers to the light of the dawn. I felt this name beautifully fit my new creation which is a perfect blend of lavender, sandalwood, patchouli and bergamot. Aurora has a strong, relaxing fragrance that is refreshing, woody and spicy.
Aurora’s strongest fragrance is lavender which is floral, fresh, sweet, herbaceous, and slightly camphorous. Lavender is a versatile fragrance that evokes feelings of calm, relaxation, and tranquility. Lavender is also great for the skin. Lavender oil offers numerous skin benefits, including soothing inflammation, promoting wound healing, reducing acne, and acting as an antioxidant to combat free radicals.
I love the smell of sandalwood. It really balances out lavender. I include sandalwood as a strong secondary ingredient. Sandalwood’s fragrance is often described as warm, woody, creamy, and slightly sweet, with a rich, earthy, and subtly musky undertone. It's a popular fragrance in perfumes and other products for its comforting and sensual qualities. Sandalwood also offers numerous skin benefits, including reducing hyperpigmentation, soothing irritated skin, improving skin elasticity, and promoting a more even skin tone, thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antioxidant properties.
Aurora has a dash of woody patchouli in it too. Not enough to really notice it, but just a little bit to give the soap an earthy, and woody undertone. Patchouli also has some wonderful benefits on skin. Patchouli soothes dry, irritated skin. Patchouli essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties which help reduce redness and irritations. It can be helpful in managing eczema, dermatitis, acne, or dry skin due to its soothing and moisturizing properties.
Finally, bergamot completes Aurora’s complex notes. Bergamot has a fresh, citrusy, and slightly sweet fragrance with floral and spicy undertones. Bergamot is often described as a blend of orange and lemon, but with a unique, rounded, and less harsh character than other citrus fruits. It is used in a lot of cologne and perfume manufacturing. Bergamot essential oil offers several benefits for the skin, including balancing oil production, promoting clearer skin, and even skin tone.
Aurora is bright, balanced, and full of the joys of Spring. It is truly the light of the dawn.
